John is one of Eastward's two playable characters and is the first character to be controlled by the player. He works as a miner in his native Potcrock Isle, and acts as a father figure to the game's other protagonist, Sam. Although he is known for speaking little, John is shown to be a kind man through his care of Sam and his interactions with other characters.
He has a passion for cooking, having the option to cook many dishes and gather a lot of different ingredients as he progresses in his journey.
As a miner John is adept at handling explosives and has strong combat skills to fight off the creatures which inhabit the world of Eastward, but he also works many different jobs as he travels around, working as a farmer, a herder, a hunter, a lab assistant, a movie star, and also a mailman, showing great skill in all said jobs.
Appearance
John has short and slightly messy brown hair that cover his eyes most of the time, he also has a very big brown beard that covers part of his face. He has a pale-beige skin tone, and a big red nose. He wears an olive-green and orange jacket with a brown shirt below, he also wears light-blue jeans and brown boots.
