“Yeah, the MIASMA is definitely real.

If it hadn't been for Alva's grandpa bringing everyone here before it hit...well, let's just say there wouldn't be a NEW New Dam City either.”

Isabel is a ranger who lives in New Dam City's Rocket Mansion with her girlfriend Alva. She serves as one of Eastward's most important non-playable characters.

Although Isabel shows up in short segments during the initial two chapters, she becomes increasingly present after Sam and John's Chapter 3 arrival in New Dam City.

Appearance

Isabel is a human with straight, orangey-yellow, chin-length hair that splays outward at the tips. Her skin is an amber-toned pale-beige color. She wears a green jacket with brown trim and light brown lining over a black shirt, greyish-blue pants, and large red shoes, strapping a long, narrow sword to her back. Isabel's brown eyes are often obscured by dark red goggles, and in some art, she can be seen wearing black gloves and a small, white, spherical earing in her left ear.

When Isabel is seen after her departure from New Dam City, her hair is cropped slightly shorter, creating smaller tufts that have spread to frame her face. During her boss fight scene in Charon, her jacket is tinted purple but is stylistically the same as earlier in the game, and it is unclear whether this apparent color change is a product of the lighting within Charon, or if Isabel is wearing a truly different jacket. This hue difference may also be reflected in the Ester City scenes where Isabel is traced using the Sonic Punk's Time Anchor Radar, however the green cast of the images generated by the radar make this difficult to assess.

Biography

Chapter 1: Coming Up for Air

Isabel can be seen in a short cutscene during Chapter 1, just before Sam returns to Potcrock Isle from the surface.

Dropping from the ceiling into a railed tunnel, Isabel remarks that she has seemingly reached a dead end. The Sonic Punk, controlled by Alva, sinks to join her, and Alva blows up the wall at the mouth of the tunnel, revealing an entrance into Potcrock Isle. Isabel wonders at the apparent city in front of her before following the Sonic Punk toward Potcrock Isle. Sam appears in the shaft just after Isabel has exited and runs through the now unblocked passageway to get help for John in the city.

Chapter 2: What The Forest Taught Me

Isabel reaches Whitewhale Bay the same night as the MIASMA attacks Greenberg, once she gets there, she notices she is already too late to save the villagers, she does make it to the Hunter's Cabin in time though, and promptly tells John to evacuate alongside Sam, Isabel remarks on Sam being there, as Sam seemed different.

Later, she is seen again at the Whitewhale Bay station, dragging Jasper, who doesn't want to be there, out. Jasper remarks on why she's not coming with them, and she says she has other means of escape.
