Ancient Ruins is a dungeon area connected by elevator to the Dig Site just west of Potcrock Isle. It appears to be the ruins of a long disused shopping complex, and is filled with various items from the era such as shopping carts, advertisements and storage containers. The interconnectedness of the map with Potcrock Isle suggests that the latter was built under the shopping complex to take advantage of the already-built basement substructures.
There is a fridge to save and a cooking station in on level 6 just before fighting the boss.

There are 7 treasure chests which can be found during Chapter 1 in the Ancient Ruins.

After opening the locked door, pull the wardrobe to the side to access the door to the room with the treasure. | ||

Go down to open the door and access the chest. | ||

After progressing through the pile of rubble after the cable puzzle, go to the left hand side of the map. Bomb the boxes in the path to access the treasure. | ||

After entering the area from the left as Sam, enter the S-shaped area of shelves. Go up, right, then down, passing three snakes and two mushrooms. |

The Hand | The Hand is a large robot which chases the player through a hallway, breaking things and firing bullets as it charges. It also has a vacuum arm attack where it sucks the player toward it. | Ancient Ruins, Chapter 1 | Wait until the vacuum arm attack begins, then drop a bomb to be sucked up. Once it detonates hit the 'eye' of the robot while it's stunned. |
